How a fractional AI engagement works

Every organization starts in a different place.
The path to getting AI operational follows a consistent structure. Below you’ll see the full story of what an engagement with ThinkWyn looks like.

What "Fractional"
Actually Means

You hire an experienced AI architect who embeds with your team for a defined engagement. Someone who works alongside your people, builds real systems, and transfers capability so you can run it independently.

It's the same model companies use for fractional CTOs, CFOs, and CMOs. Most organizations need someone to stand up the system, build the muscle, and step back.

How Much of This You Need Depends on Where You Are

Every organization is at a different starting point. These three engagement shapes cover the range. Each one fills a defined leadership function inside your organization and so we’re effective, we suggest explicit decision rights and an operating cadence.

The jumpstart
You get a fractional AI strategist.
A focused 4-6 week engagement. We assess your readiness, build a prioritized adoption roadmap, and deliver one working proof-of-concept so your team can see what AI looks like in their actual workflow. This is the front door to ThinkWyn for most organizations.
This fits if
Your organization knows AI matters but hasn't started. You need a clear plan and a first win to build momentum.
Role
We own the assessment methodology, the roadmap prioritization, and the proof-of-concept design. Your leadership owns the go/no-go on which workflows to pursue.
Operating Cadence
Weekly check-in with your project sponsor. Assessment readout and roadmap presentation at close.
The builder seat
You get a fractional AI operations leader.
The highest-value, highest-touch engagement. We design governance, build tools and workflows, coach your team hands-on, and ship working systems. The full Discover through Transition arc over 3-6 months.
This fits if
You're ready to operationalize AI across real workflows and need an embedded architect to build the system and transfer capability.
Role
We own the AI portfolio backlog, the pilot design, the governance structure, and the workflow architecture. We co-own go/no-go decisions on pilots with your designated executive sponsor. Your team owns day-to-day execution once workflows ship.
Operating Cadence
Weekly standup with the working team. Biweekly executive review covering what shipped, what's blocked, and what needs a decision. Monthly portfolio rebalancing.
The embedded strategist
You get a fractional AI governance and strategy lead.
Ongoing AI leadership: roadmap stewardship, governance oversight, quarterly measurement reviews, and strategic counsel as your AI operations mature and expand. For organizations that have built the foundation and need steady guidance as they scale.
This fits if
You've shipped your first workflows and need ongoing leadership to scale, govern, and evolve your AI operations.
Role
We own the governance framework evolution, the measurement system, and strategic recommendations for the AI portfolio. Your internal team owns execution and day-to-day operations. We co-own the quarterly portfolio review with your executive sponsor.
Operating Cadence
Biweekly strategy session with your AI lead or sponsor. Monthly governance review. Quarterly portfolio and measurement review with executive team.

Deploying AI Tools Faster, Cheaper, & Sustainably

A strategic framework to guide organizations from initial AI discovery to complete, self-sufficient operational integration, focusing on human workflow, technical confidence, and embedded governance.

01
Phase One

Discover

Learn how your organization actually works.
Where things get stuck, what takes too long, what falls through the cracks. The output is a prioritized map of workflows where AI makes the biggest difference.
02
Phase Two

Define

Scope the work, set the priorities, name the owners.
A clear roadmap with defined decision rights, success criteria, and go/no-go gates. Everyone knows what we're building, why, and who's accountable.
03
Phase Three

Design

Redesign workflows around how your people think.
AI-assisted processes that fit the tools your team already uses — accounting for the review steps, handoffs, and judgment calls no automation should bypass.
04
Phase Four

Deploy

Build the tools, coach the team, ship the first wins.
The core of the engagement. We work alongside your people on their actual work until they're confident. Governance goes live here too — embedded in the work, not bolted on.
05
Phase Five

Transition

Hand off a system your team runs without us.
We document everything — workflows, governance, prompt libraries, troubleshooting guides. Most teams don't need ongoing support, and that's by design.
